A Work-In-Progress - a young musician's journal.
Working on this. It's a journal for a young musician. I'm rather pleased the way the cover turned out. I know I would enjoy this. It's a custom work for a friend.
A simple design, so that more can be added to by the recipient. Making some interior pages for it. Fun to do, made with love.

For me this is THE BEST EVER CRAFT STORAGE system!
I invested in plastic drawer storage systems and filing boxes and cabinets, but being on Pinterest set my mind turning. As my filing systems were not filling any of my needs for arts and crafts.
I saw the hanging systems with ziplock bags and thought that this would work. But didn't want to be drilling holes or buying any new 'furniture' - if such furniture existed that would 'house' a hanging system. I worked out that I could stack crates, as many as I liked, or just put one crate on one worktop, dresser, or desk. Hence it would make my storage 'portable' - which it certainly wasn't with all the plastic drawers.
I bought a wooden crate from Michaels with a coupon. Then bought a curtain tension spring rod from Target. Once I fitted the rod in, I knew I was in business! It wasn't until I started filling my zip-top plastic bags with embellishments and papers, I thought of other ways to maximize this 'filing' system.
The hanging system I wasn't to sure of at first, but what I chose was perfect and inexpensive. 2 mini clips with a wire loop made from a heavy-duty Christmas ornament hanger. I clip the 2nd side on the bag when I hang them, and unclip one side to take it down. Because it's a loop, rather than a hook.
Nothing can fall off unexpectedly. I have a label, showing what is inside, but it's so easy to see what is there anyway. What will be great is being able to see when supplies are running out! You can color code the bag edges, or put a mini clip (color coded) to identify priority or project elements. If you are using things for a project. Say 8 bags - just clip them together - keeps everything close at hand and easy to find, and won't tip or spill out!
I found with drawer and boxed containers, sometimes things would tip or spill. In fact, that was a common happening. I also would think I was out of something, only to find it later. This system offers so much visibility! If you're going to a workshop or class, you can easily clip your bags of goodies together for convenient transporting. I might put dividers on the hanging rods, too, so I can keep sections together - e.g. brads, buttons, stickers. It may not work for you, but for me it is perfect.
Already I have gained SO much space, discovered so many 'lost' supplies, and been able to work easier and more effectively. The video of this is on YouTube: http://youtu.be/wN47Req3qtQ

The theme is vintage flowers overlaid on a base of old handwritten paper from the late 1800s, with scrolls printed on this background and a vignette edging. Perfect inspiration for so many creative happenings.
It takes a long time to choose and make these pages, but end up loving the results myself, so I'm happy to give you the opportunity to use them in your projects and dreams.

Inspiration for journal page, scrapbooking, greeting card - how-to. antique photo & pages.
I was wanting to use one of my antique German pages from the packs I'm offering on Etsy (http://tinyurl.com/k7rqu6m), to make a journal page, or one that might be used for a greeting card or scrapbooking.
Supplies:
Cardstock or journal/scrapbooking page (light brown)
Antique book page
Vintage photo image - sepia
Vintage floral image
Vintage German handwritten text image
Transparency film (available at office supply stores - or computer)
Computer printer
Print vintage German handwritten text using your computer printer onto cardstock page. Tear a ragged edge to the antique book page, leaving a corner intact. Glue this in desired position on the cardstock page. Print the vintage photo image onto glossy photo paper. Cut off excess border so just photo remains. Glue this on top of the antique book page shape. Print the floral image onto the transparency film. Use small curved scissors to cut around the shape - no sharp edges. I didn't cut up close to the image - I left about 1/8" clear area away from the printed image. I then adhered this where desired on the page.
I can see so much potential for this. I love that the image was toned down by the brown paper, and adds to the 'aged' look.
Enjoy!

Sharing a technique from when I used to teach. 2-tone paper with rubber stamp. 2 contrasting pieces of paper (e.g. lime/black). Rubber stamp the middle of one (lime) with same color (black) as the other paper. Cut the lime paper in half to the top of the rubber stamp, but leave a small margin around the outside of the stamp shape to the bottom, then cut remaining paper in half. Glue the stamped paper on top of the other sheet. An easy 2-tone eye-catching effect for multiple use - tags, journals, embellishments, etc.
Be sure to check out my DreamyPapers.com website for unique images, papers and more.

Great medical professional gift - Vintage eye printed on old 1913/14 handwritten medical textbook.
Making the world lovelier ... one image at a time ...
I found another, different page of medical notes relating to the eye in the old textbook I have. The last one sold. This is a perfect gift for medical student, ophthalmologist, nurse, or doctor. A 1913/14 handwritten book page of lecture notes over-printed with a vintage engraved illustration of an eye with parts indicated alphabetically - such as one a student of the times would have used!
The text notes are pertaining to 'Dr Harley Chemical Poisons that Act on Eye Amblyopia'.
It can be framed - float mounting will show off the ragged edge, giving more character to it. It can also be mounted onto a wood block or similar. A wonderful gift for any medical practitioner hero.
The size is approx. 6.5" x 8.25". it is OOAK - One Of A Kind. Click on below link for Etsy listing:

Art Journal Tip: Page a little 'short'?
My printer tends to print a little 'short' of a full page at times - so I have a blank gap. For art journal pages this is a bit annoying, but I was very pleased with the results of using a strip of black dotted washii tape along the bottom. It fitted in perfectly, and for this printed page, it just added the right amount of subtle interest.
If you collect old papers, you could cut a tape-like strip of text, and paste that. Having a ragged top to it could also work well.

Free printable bookmark/tag for Mother's Day - Victorian + Quote
Just on a whim, after finding this quote in an old 1914 book that once belonged to my Aunt, I decided to put together a matching graphic in a meaningful way.
Fortunately I found a Victorian image that seemed to match, and so made this antique-type look - can be made into tags or bookmark. Click on the image for full size to print.
Can be used for personal projects as much as you like. Can be used in commercial projects, e.g. art journals, etc. But cannot be used for selling this image/quote in digital form, either as is, or altered. Thank you. If you need other permissions or are unsure, please email me.
Enjoy!
And Happy Mother's Day to all the Mother's out there!

New print of my original watercolor painting of pink rose teacup on old book page.
I've offered prints on old book pages in my Etsy store before, as well as currently. But this is a first.
I was thinking how much I love teacups, especially those with pink roses, and then thinking how popular prints of my watercolor of one has been. I had an old book from 1876 nearby, and was thinking of printing on the pages of it. And from there, this became my new creation (using my own art for printing onto old book pages).
It would be great for a feminine themed area, tea shop / cafe, or would suit shabby chic decor.
The book has some wonderful old quotations from Victorian times. Did people ACTUALLY talk like this - thee, and thoust, etc.? This is the real thing - you get the book page with the print on it. If it sells, I may offer more - just on different pages, of course.
Available on Etsy in my "Dreamy Papers" store.

Tips/suggestions on displaying art in your rooms.
Art adds SO much character and adds interest to one's decor.
A few years back I decked all my walls full of art. Some were from floor to ceiling. Some were my art pieces, but it included others' work, too.
I loved to look up and see it. It gave me a lot of joy.
But even more amazing, my visitors loved it. People would come in and go directly to my walls, and conversations would start up. Even people that were usually not interested in art were attracted to it.
While one large artwork over a sofa might be asthetically pleasing, maybe my ideas of collecting and displaying art might be a lovely alternative for some. This is some of my art as displayed in my apartment a few years back. A SFA (Small Format Art - search on SFA to discover more online) watercolor 5x7" of a Royal Doulton teacup with pink roses. There is an ACEO (2.5x3.5" - search on ACEO to discover more online) on top of the china cabinet, too. And a 12x36" acrylic on canvas of music artist "Sammy Blue" (google him to check his work), a friend of mine.
Original art is OOAK - only one of a kind. If you want to be unique, this is a wonderful way to go. Great works can be found online - I'm sure you can find some to fit YOUR budget.
Happy collecting and decorating. Enjoy!
